Day 2 - Stoke-On-Trent - The Sugarmill
After leaving Oxford in the middle of the night, the bus made its way to Stoke-On-Trent and the second venue on the tour: The Sugarmill. None of the Future Boy crew had been to Stoke before so we went for a walk to check it out. We took a walk to Tesco, loaded up on drinks and snacks and headed back to the bus.
We had to wait a little longer than usual to load in the gear and to do sound check as Twenty Twenty had apparently run into problems with their van and found their gear locked in by a faulty lock! Luckily they were able to get it sorted and everything was able to happen within a reasonable time anyway. Some of the Future Boy crew helped Twenty Twenty crew to load which made it go a little smoother. It’s all about the brotherhood of musicians, isn’t it? :)
While setting up for sound check Ricky noticed the Team Future Boy camera and started hamming it up by striking funny poses.

After everything was set up, it was time to do a proper sound check and make sure everything was ready for the show. James smiled for the Team Future Boy camera when he noticed it. Everyone seemed to be in a jovial mood.

After a few more adjustments, Future Boy performed part of one more song to make sure everything was set just right.

With everything set up correctly it was time to get back on the bus and get ready for the show. James had to go into the venue a little bit early as professional photographer Deborah Law from www.famous.uk.com was there to capture some backstage photos of him and some performance shots. You can check out some of her photos by CLICKING HERE.
After the backstage photos it was time to get on with the show!

At one point, James really got into the performance and jumped up on a box at the front of the stage. He splashed his water all over the place and then, throwing the bottle into the air he jumped from the box and back onto the stage!

After the show, Future Boy got back on the bus and got ready to meet fans after the show. Meanwhile Nick Bourne the Merch Master was working the merch stand and as he puts it “going for the hard sale” Ha ha, that Nick is so funny!

After Twnety Twenty finished and the show was over, the fans gathered outside the venue and got to meet and greet with all of the bands (City Stereo, Octane OK, Future Boy and Twenty Twenty). It was a fun night! We met so many fans, handed out Battery energy drinks and Future Boy mints and got to know some really cool people.
Sadly, we couldn’t stay in Stoke forever and after hanging with a few fans on the bus for a little while, it was time to move on and go to Glasgow for the next stop on the tour.
